Here we’re carrying out repairs to slipped slates.
On old slate roofs such as this the nails holding the slates corrode causing the slate to slide away. This is known as ‘nail fatigue’
To carry out an effective repair slates must be re-secured using a lead tab (see pics) but as the level of this problem increases, a full re-roof will have to be carried out
To bring the roof into good order we’ve finished off by re-pointing the ridge tiles in sound sand and cement.
